The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies will stay at home for another game and welcome the Canon City Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Mesa Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,437 points over their last 21 matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Mesa Ridge gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Pueblo Central 65-41. Given Mesa Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Pueblo Central is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tevin Riehl, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five assists. He hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tanner Widic, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Canon City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 76-59 to Harrison. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mesa Ridge pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Canon City, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Everything went Mesa Ridge's way against Canon City when the teams last played back in January as Mesa Ridge made off with a 66-45 win. Does Mesa Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canon City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
