Basketball Recap: Mayfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against North

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mayfield). They breezed by the North Rangers to the tune of 86-56 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Mayfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelo Newman, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points. The game was Newman's third in a row with at least ten points. Aarav Ganore also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Mayfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nate Tadiello, who went 10 for 22 en route to 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Tadiello is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Nate Sagendorph, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Mayfield's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Mayfield will challenge Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.5 points per game this season. As for North, they will face off against Kenston at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Kenston also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.4 points per game.
