The Palm Desert Aztecs will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Prep Silver Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palm Desert has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 279 points over their last four matches.
Last Friday, Palm Desert was able to grind out a solid win over Calexico, taking the game 58-47. Given Palm Desert's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Calexico is ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coby Christensen was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. The contest was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Kamrynn Nathan was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Riverside Prep, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 65-53 win over Academy for Academic Excellence on Saturday. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 21 to 13 on the offensive boards, as Riverside Prep did.
Riverside Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of James Macey, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals, and Raoul Churchill, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The contest was Macey's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keion Jordan, who scored 7 points along with 5 steals.
Palm Desert has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Riverside Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Palm Desert and Riverside Prep are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Palm Desert hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.5 points per game. It's a different story for Riverside Prep, though, as they've been averaging only 52.1 per game.
