Baseball Recap: Barnwell Has No Trouble Against Marion

Barnwell got themselves on the board against Marion on Wednesday, but Marion never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Swamp Foxes with a sharp 13-0 win. The Warhorses might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Carl Hines looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Case Davis was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Barnwell is 6-3 when Davis posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Caiden Roland was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Barnwell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Barnwell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Marion, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Barnwell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Swamp Foxes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Thursday.
