Maypearl is 0-5 against West since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maypearl Panthers will be playing at home against the West Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Maypearl got themselves on the board against Inspired Vision, but Inspired Vision never followed suit. They really took it to the EAGLES for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-0 victory on the road. Maypearl pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Inspired Vision had no chance of recovering from.
J.t. Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 117 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Stevens, who rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat A Plus Academy 65-0 at home. Given West's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while A Plus Academy is ranked 1141st), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Gus Crain was a one-man wrecking crew for West as he threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
Their wins bumped Maypearl to 5-1 and West to 4-2.
Maypearl was dealt a bruising 89-0 loss at the hands of West in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Maypearl have more luck at home instead of on the road?
