The Mountain Range Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 63-38 loss at the hands of Prairie View. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain Range in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now lost three in a row.
Mountain Range's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Lucero, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. It was the first time this season that Lucero pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josieraye Running Wolf, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Leading Prairie View to victory were Celicia Robles and Paige Walker. Robles scored 25 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Walker dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Robles has scored at least a third of Prairie View's points. Elizabeth Scaff was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Mountain Range has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Prairie View, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Range will face off against the Lightning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Legacy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday. As for Prairie View, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brighton has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
