Raton led 3A District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on Raton.
Pojoaque Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Ainsworth threw for 89 and three touchdowns and Jesse Gomez had 41 yards receiving. On the ground Ainsworth chipped in 160 yards. Isaac Martinez helped Pojoaque Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Toby Henson of the Tigers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 625. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Taos's Isaac Gonzales has rushed for 535 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Juan Rios. The Pojoaque Valley star has 12 catches for 263 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Elks/Elkettes take on Raton. Pojoaque Valley is currently in second, while Brock Walton's team is in fifth.
John Ainsworth's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,455 from 12,800. The improvement was the result of 33-24 victory over West Las Vegas last week.
