The biggest upset of the week belonged to Taft, who took down 111th ranked Stayton, 14-6.
Central's Tell Cruickshank rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A Oregon West this season in his game against Philomath last week. Cruickshank ran for 51 yards on the play and finished with 126 on the day as his team fell to the Warriors.
Central's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ben Finnegan threw for 149 and two touchdowns and Branden Cutsforth had 92 yards receiving. Kelton Chapman helped Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 57 yards.
Cutsforth made the biggest impact on defense this week as Shane Hedrick's team fell to Philomath. The 6-foot-0 senior recorded one fumble.
Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Finnegan has thrown for 716 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Chapman has 10 catches for 218 yards. Wesley Riddell leads the league in rushing with 302 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cascade takes on the Panthers. As it stands, the Cougars are in second, while Central is in fourth.
Finnegan and Chapman provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Troy Muir's team. The connection went for 57 yards, the longest such play in 4A Oregon West this season.
