The South Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. The matchup between them and St. Paul wasn't particularly close, with South Central falling 64-47. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 797th, while the Flyers are ranked 373rd).
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Weston June, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Ray, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
South Central dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. Paul, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Edison and the Trojans are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for St. Paul, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. St. Mary Central Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
