Butler had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it five. They lost 13-2 to the Bullitt East Chargers. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Chargers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Butler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracelee Sharp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Sharp has snagged this season. Dajmyah Hampton was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Bullitt East, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
On Bullitt East's side, Mackenzie Mingus and Ryleigh Watrous made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Mingus pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Watrous tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mingus has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mingus went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Watrous went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Watrous a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mollie Johnston, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Allie Carter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Butler will challenge Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles/Banshees' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bullitt East, they will face off against Assumption at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
