Abbott RVT is 1-9 against Wilcox RVT since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wolverines will look to defend their home field against the Indian at 3:00 p.m. Abbott RVT's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Wilcox RVT's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Abbott RVT had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Shepaug Valley put an end to it on Wednesday. The Wolverines lost 8-1 to the Spartans. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilcox RVT). Everything went their way against Wright Tech on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indian in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Katelyn Ouellette made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Ouellette was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Sam Olechowski and Kendall Datchuck did most of the damage at the plate: Olechowski went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Datchuck got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave Olechowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Velez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Wilcox RVT kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Abbott RVT's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Wilcox RVT, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Abbott RVT beat Wilcox RVT 10-5 when the teams last played last Tuesday. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Indian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
