It was a good run, but the Fort Wayne HomeSchool Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Northside L by a score of 71-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Newcomer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah King, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
DUKE KARNES continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northside L, scoring 37 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points KARNES has scored all season. Another player making a difference was JOEY HEASTON, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists.
Fort Wayne HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 21-3. As for Northside L, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne HomeSchool on the road again on Tuesday and play against Smith Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Smith Academy is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
