Colusa is on a six-game streak of home wins, while the Bears are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Colusa RedHawks will take on the Pierce Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colusa has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 329 points over their last five games.
Last Friday, Colusa strolled past the Honkers with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. Given Colusa's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Honkers are ranked 1192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isaiah Travis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Landon Humphrey was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Pierce suffered a rough 58-36 defeat at the hands of the Trojans on Thursday. Pierce has not had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Drew Burnum, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Guynn, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Colusa is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Pierce, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Colusa have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pierce struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Colusa against the Bears in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 75-41 victory. Will Colusa repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
