Baseball Recap: American Heritage Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the American Heritage Stallions didn't have quite enough to beat the Olympic Heights Lions and fell 3-2.

Lucas Shahrabani was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryan Ashley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Bellantoni, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

American Heritage has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. Olympic Heights' win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-12.

Looking ahead, American Heritage will be taking part in a tournament against Pembroke Pines Charter at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (American Heritage 3.9, Pembroke Pines Charter 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Olympic Heights, they will head out on the road to square off against Seminole Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seminole Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
