Huron is a perfect 10-0 against Grosse Ile since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Chiefs will host the Devils at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Huron made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chiefs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Chiefs haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Madison Kuzara put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Kuzara was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Kuzara wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maya Martindale, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Grosse Ile lost 14-3 to Erie-Mason on Tuesday.
Marian McCarthy made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mayve McGowan, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Huron now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Grosse Ile, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Huron's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Chiefs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Grosse Ile, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Huron continue to outrun the ball?
Huron got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Grosse Ile by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Chiefs repeat their success, or do the Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
