The Lake Shore Shorians will face off against the New Haven Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Shore has three straight wins, New Haven has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lake Shore barely beat Warren Woods-Tower the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Shorians put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 15-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Shorians have won seven contests by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia VanDenstorm made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lake Shore got a massive performance out of Makayla Blumenschein, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Blumenschein a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendra Damm, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.
Lake Shore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Port Huron hit New Haven with a eight-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets came up short against the Red Hawks, falling 12-1.
Gabrielle (Gabby) Goetz Class 2025 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.
Lake Shore's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for New Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
New Haven's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Shore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. It's a different story for New Haven, though, as they've only averaged .238. Will they be able to contain Lake Shore's hitters?
Everything went Lake Shore's way against New Haven in their previous matchup back in April, as Lake Shore made off with a 22-3 win. Will the Shorians repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
