Southern has been on the road for four straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Southern gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by Calvert on the road to the tune of 54-6. While fans of Southern might be used to big wins, the 48-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Southern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabrielle Tompkins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Sidney Shaw, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Western Tech & Environmental Science ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over Carver A&T. The victory was just what Western Tech & Environmental Science needed coming off of a 55-35 defeat in their prior contest.
Southern's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Western Tech & Environmental Science, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
