They fell just short of Scott by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered against the Skyhawks since April 19, 2021.
Wayne saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Prater, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Spring Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Woodrow Wilson on Friday. Spring Valley walked away with an 11-6 victory over Woodrow Wilson.
Jonah Harrold made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cole Ferguson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cam Perdue, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Spring Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodrow Wilson struck out nine times.
Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Spring Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
