The Gann Academy Red Heifers will face off against the Brimmer & May Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gann Academy has four straight victories, Brimmer & May has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Gann Academy made easy work of Cambridge and carried off a 16-2 win. Considering the Red Heifers have won three matches by more than 13 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ilan Newman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Newman was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Gann Academy is undefeated when Newman posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Sam Kaplan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Gann Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Gann Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Brimmer & May came up short against Boston Trinity Academy on Friday and fell 9-6.
Gann Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Brimmer & May, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Gann Academy's way against Brimmer & May when the teams last played last Wednesday, as Gann Academy made off with a 17-1 win. Do the Red Heifers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
