They enjoyed a cozy 54-39 victory over the Bobcats. Given Greene County Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Walnut Ridge is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Greene County Tech got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Myiah Butler out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Butler has scored at least 25% of Greene County Tech's points. Weslyn Burnside was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Greene County Tech and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1. As for Walnut Ridge, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene County Tech won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pocahontas on December 29, 2023. Pocahontas will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Walnut Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuckerman at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuckerman is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
