You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Eastside Tigers's strategy against the Paul VI Eagles on Thursday. Eastside strolled past Paul VI with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. For Eastside, this counts as revenge for the 66-59 defeat Paul VI walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Eastside was led to victory by Will Love and Mahdee McNair. Love dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while McNair scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McNair has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Long, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Eastside has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Paul VI, they dropped their record down to 17-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Eastside will face off against KIPP Cooper Norcross at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Eastside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday. As for Paul VI, they will face off against Woodbury at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Paul VI is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in New Jersey (they are ranked 33rd, while Woodbury is ranked 254th).
