The Cedar Cliff Colts will face off against the Red Land Patriots at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Cedar Cliff will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Tuesday, Cedar Cliff made easy work of State College and carried off a 10-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Little Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Jaden Miller looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ian Ripple was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Boblick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Cedar Cliff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Red Land waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly four runs.
Not much got past Austin Michelsen, who gave up just six hits to keep Hershey off the board. Michelsen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Red Land is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Jordon McCahan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Red Land's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Cliff, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Cedar Cliff took their win against Red Land when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
