It was a good run, but the Northgate Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Christian. While losing is never fun, Northgate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Trinity Christian is ranked 25th).
When it comes to explaining why Northgate lost, one person who can't be blamed is DeAsia Stinson. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Stinson scored a full 40.5% of Northgate's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Arnold, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Northgate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Northgate will square off against Fayette County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Trinity Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Langston Hughes at 1:40 p.m. on December 9th. Langston Hughes knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Trinity Christian likes a good challenge.
