Davis Sr. took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-12, 24-26, 25-22, 15-10.
The losing side was boosted by Audrey Chen, who had ten digs and three aces.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Del Oro sidestepped Oak Ridge for a 3-2 win. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Del Oro had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 30-32, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-5.
Del Oro's win came from a few key players Davis Sr. will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lily Smith, who had 24 digs and nine assists. Those nine assists gave her a new career-high. Joanna Shular was another key player, getting eight digs and one assist.
They weren't the only good servers: Del Oro was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in four consecutive matchups.
Del Oro's win bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Davis Sr., they now have a losing record of 13-14.
