The Bellevue East Chieftains are taking a road trip to challenge the Omaha Central Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue East has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 22.
On Monday, Bellevue East didn't have quite enough to beat Burke and fell 2-1.
Bellevue East got a good showing from Christian Lester, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Lester has allowed over his last four matchups.

At the plate, Ethan Greenwell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. He has become a key player for Bellevue East: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson Myers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Omaha Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand South Sioux City a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Grant Hamill looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Omaha Central let Ethan Ferguson and Joe Dougherty run wild. Ferguson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Dougherty got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Dougherty has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Demman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bellevue East's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Omaha Central, their record now sits at 13-14.
Bellevue East might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Omaha Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
