Basketball Game Preview: Durand Bulldogs vs. Orangeville Broncos

Durand and Orangeville are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Durand Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Orangeville Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Durand has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 9.

Last Wednesday, Durand lost to Lena-Winslow at home by a 71-57 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 683rd, while the Panthers are ranked 279th).

Despite the loss, Durand got top-tier performance from Hayden Sughroue, who went 9 of 15 en route to 24 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Sughroue a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Evan Rager, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Orangeville played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 65-21 defeat at the hands of South Beloit. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-8.

Orangeville has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-22 record this season. As for Durand, their loss dropped their record down to 6-20.

Durand strolled past Orangeville in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 56-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Durand since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
