The Broomfield Eagles will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Silver Creek Raptors at 5:30 p.m. on December 7th. Broomfield will be strutting in after a win while Silver Creek will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Broomfield humbled Lakewood with a 53-20 victory. Given Broomfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Lakewood is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Broomfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Olivia Kim, who scored 9 points along with 5 steals, and Lydia Tymchenko, who scored 15 points. Kim is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Paige Gilpatrick, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek came up short against Standley Lake last Wednesday and fell 58-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Silver Creek in their matchups with Standley Lake: they've now lost five in a row.
Silver Creek's defeat came about despite a quality game from Izzy Spagnoletti, who scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Bella Ayer was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Their wins bumped Broomfield to 3-0 and Lakewood to 2-2.
Everything came up roses for Broomfield against Silver Creek in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 65-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broomfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
