The University Buccaneers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 63-56 win over Unicoi County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Unicoi County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Simmons, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds, and Kolby Jones who scored 20 points. The game was Jones' 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koda Cutlip, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
University's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Unicoi County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
University will head out on the road to face off against Elizabethton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elizabethton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Unicoi County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
