The Bunker Hill Bears had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past West Iredell 61-27 at home. Bunker Hill's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bunker Hill had a senior duo take command as MyKyiah Lafone scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals and Damireona Burch dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burch has scored at least 25% of Bunker Hill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydn Shoup, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Bunker Hill's win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for West Iredell, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunker Hill will face off against Lincolnton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Lincolnton is ranked 420th, while Bunker Hill is ranked 440th). As for West Iredell, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Stephens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Stephens is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
