Even though the Central Bobcats have not done well against the Sierra Linda Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Central took down Sierra Linda 59-45. That's another feather in the cap for Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Lia Sims, who dropped a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Central's points. Shakeira Mosley was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Despite the defeat, Sierra Linda saw an underclassman step up: Shania Holmes scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Nyemah Reece, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Central's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Sierra Linda, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Central will head out on the road to square off against Fairfax at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Linda won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully North Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
