The Cooperstown Hawkeyes will head out on the road to face off against the Poland Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cooperstown suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 82-47 loss at the hands of Hamilton. While losing is never fun, Cooperstown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Hamilton is ranked 115th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Charlie Lambert, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Lambert is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Bradley, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Poland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on January 4th after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 77-39 defeat at the hands of Waterville. Poland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.
Cooperstown bumped their record down to 8-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Poland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Cooperstown strolled past Poland in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 63-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cooperstown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
