Emersyn Jones and Lindsey Wise were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jones tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wise tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. At bat, Jones went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Wise went 3-for-4 with two runs. Those three hits gave Wise a new career-high.
In other batting news, Zoey Wyant was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Purcell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Knoch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, while Greensburg Salem put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Valley. The Golden Lions put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-0 win. With that victory, the Golden Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Greensburg Salem got a massive performance out of Cate Waugaman, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tymara White, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Knoch's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Greensburg Salem, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Knoch has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Greensburg Salem struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Knoch came out on top in a nail-biter against Greensburg Salem in their previous matchup on April 14th, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
