The Princeton Bulldogs were the 60-39 winner over the Beddingfield Bruins when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Princeton was beaten by the Bruins 71-43 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Princeton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 582nd, while the Bruins are ranked 229th).
Despite the loss, Princeton still got an impressive performance from Denicholas Gray, who scored 17 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Lane, who scored seven points.
Princeton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Beddingfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhion Ashby, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jayonta Blanchard, who scored 17 points.
Princeton dropped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Beddingfield, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Princeton will face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Johnston is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season. As for Beddingfield, they will head out on the road to take on the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
