Softball Recap: LEAP Academy Has No Trouble Against Bridgeton

LEAP Academy barely beat Bridgeton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 27-15 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

L Montanez and W Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Montanez got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI, while Diaz got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, seven runs, and one RBI. Montanez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of C Murray, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

LEAP Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Bridgeton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LEAP Academy will take on Lindenwold at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.3 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bridgeton, they will square off against Glassboro at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
