The Cameron Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Richmond Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Cameron was beaten by the Cardinals 77-26. While losing is never fun, Cameron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Cardinals are ranked 50th).
Despite the defeat, Cameron had strong showings from Eme Teel, who scored eight points along with two steals, and Isabel Robinson, who scored ten points. That was a full 38.5% of Cameron's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Richmond came up short against the Huskers on Tuesday and fell 51-41. Richmond has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cameron's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Richmond, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Cameron didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cameron since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
