Berks Inter-County 1 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Governor Mifflin extended the longest winning streak in Berks Inter-County 1 this week by beating Pottsville, 35-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Reading made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,774 from 5,204. The improvement was the result of 28-6 victory over Daniel Boone last week.
Conrad Weiser's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Schoener threw for 135 and one touchdown and Angle Cruz had 65 yards receiving. On the ground Cruz chipped in 375 yards. Will Wagner helped Conrad Weiser's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Schoener and Cruz the Scouts have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Schoener leads the league in passing with 919 yards, while Cruz has rushed for 1244 yards this season. Exeter Township's Alex Dundore leads the league in receiving yards with 316 on 13 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Conrad Weiser takes on the Knights. At the moment, Alan Moyer's team is in first, while Reading is in fourth.
