Baseball Recap: Glen Rose Has No Trouble Against Clifton

Glen Rose had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Clifton on Saturday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Cubs. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Braden Harwell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other pitching news, Ethan McCune looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Adrian Sanchez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Randell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Glen Rose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Glen Rose now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Clifton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glen Rose will welcome Brownwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clifton, they will be playing at home against West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cubs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
