The Hartford Public Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Cheney RVT at home and fell 78-41. While losing is never fun, Hartford Public can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Cheney RVT is ranked 30th).
It was another big night for Ayden Brookins, who scored 25 points along with nine steals for Cheney RVT. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Isaiah Williams was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Hartford Public's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Cheney RVT, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartford Public will take on Bloomfield at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Cheney RVT, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prince RVT at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Prince RVT focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
