Baseball Recap: Elizabeth Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Elizabeth put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Everything went their way against the Sierra Stallions as they made off with a 25-0 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Jeremy Waymire was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Cohen Steinke was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Moons, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive contests.

Elizabeth pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Elizabeth wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Woodland Park on the 3rd. As for Sierra, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 defeat against Harrison on the 3rd.
