The Bertrand Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] 51-20 at home. That looming 51-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Bertrand yet this season.
Bertrand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katelyn Evans led the charge by scoring 18 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Evans scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Andersen, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood]'s loss came despite strong showings from Malia Viter and Shelby Jurjens. Viter scored six points along with six rebounds, while Jurjens scored five points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bertrand posted 11 assists.
The win got Bertrand back to even at 2-2. As for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Bertrand will be home for the holidays to greet Elm Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elm Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bertrand in Nebraska (Elm Creek is ranked 66th, while Bertrand is ranked 205th). Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Franklin on December 14th.
