With a playoff game on the line, the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers rose to the challenge on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 22-19. Winning may never get old, but Gardner-Edgerton sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Bravin Powell was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 109 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.
When it comes to explaining why Derby lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derek Hubbard. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Hubbard was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
Gardner-Edgerton's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Derby, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
Gardner-Edgerton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Derby also has no future games currently scheduled.
