The Van Nuys Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Reseda Regents at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Van Nuys got the win against Vaughn by a conclusive 17-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
ARIEL PUENTE made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. PUENTE was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Van Nuys let Isabella Espinoza and Angelina Volpe run wild. Espinoza got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Volpe got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Espinoza a new career-high. Another player making a difference was KIMBERLY NUNEZ, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Van Nuys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reseda). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Grant a 32-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Regents in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.
Fuentes Thereze was incredible, getting on base in five of her eight plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Iris Salamanca was another key player, getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
The victory got Van Nuys back to even at 8-8. As for Reseda, their record now sits at 8-6.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Van Nuys has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .531. However, it's not like Reseda struggles in that department as they've averaged .656. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Van Nuys skirted past Reseda 15-13 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
