Alhambra has gone 8-2 against Northgate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will take on the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Alhambra is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Alhambra proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past College Park 3-2.
Alyssa Powers looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nichaela West, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northgate, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Benicia with a sharp 9-2 win on Tuesday. Considering the Broncos have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashley Herman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Macey Vallado was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stella Hanko, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Alhambra's record now sits at 10-7-1. As for Northgate, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alhambra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alhambra suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Northgate in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
