Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Montrose

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Montrose ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mountain View Eagles 8-7. The victory was familiar territory for the Meteors, who have now won three contests in a row.

Adam Sorensen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montrose is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. Sorensen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Montrose let Lukas Cokely and Kasey Carey run wild. Cokely scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Carey scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Cokely has become a key player for Montrose: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Chase Harman also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win got Montrose back to even at 4-4. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
