The Sun Valley Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Butler by a score of 56-49.
Sun Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyra Robinson out in front who scored 18 points along with five steals. Robinson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aree Meaders, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Butler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Saunders, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Joy Park was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Sun Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Butler, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.
Sun Valley will be playing at home against Marvin Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marvin Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Butler, they will head out on the road to face off against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
