The Mapletown Maples lost against the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Mapletown opened the new year with a less-than-successful 40-36 loss to they. They have not had much luck with Jefferson-Morgan recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Jefferson-Morgan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Woodward led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Woodward has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jase Bedilion was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Mapletown bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Jefferson-Morgan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Mapletown will be playing at home against California at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully California focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will head out on the road to face off against Monessen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Monessen's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
