South Pike put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They made easy work of Sumner and carried off a 52-20 victory. South Pike have a history of success against Sumner, winning their last head-to-head 41-15.
South Pike got off to a slow start in their previous match, but they had no such trouble against Sumner and cruised to a 36-point first half. Sumner put up 7, so the score was 36-7 at the half. The South Pike defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 7 and all but finishing the matchup. The win bumped South Pike's record up to 4-2. The loss dropped Sumner back to even at 2-2.
Next week South Pike take on McComb at 7:00 PM. South Pike will be strutting in after a victory while McComb will be stumbling in from a loss. Sumner will look to defend their home turf against East Feliciana at 7:00 PM. Given that they both suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this weekend.
