It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Morgan had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Delta Rabbits as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Callie Averett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Averett was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Hardman, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. Joesi Kelly was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory (which was Morgan's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-23.
