The Alpharetta Raiders were the 60-46 winner over the Lassiter Trojans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Alpharetta fell 63-50 to Lassiter on Friday. While losing is never fun, Alpharetta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Lassiter is ranked 42nd).
Lassiter had a senior duo take command as Anthony Venuti scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals and Kyhir Torrence scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Emmanuelli, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Alpharetta's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Lassiter, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Alpharetta will head out on the road to take on Pope at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pope will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Lassiter will take on Roswell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roswell has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
