This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Will Doherty and Acoya Bartlett. Doherty rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry while Bartlett gained 170 total yards and two touchdowns. Branson/Kim is undefeated when Doherty posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.
Branson/Kim was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells entered their tilt with Prairie on Saturday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They claimed a resounding 45-16 win over the Mustangs. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than 28 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
One reason for the win was Cheyenne Wells' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Cory Hill refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Cheyenne Wells received some extra help from Daryon Campbell, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Branson/Kim's record is now 7-3. As for Cheyenne Wells, their record now sits at 9-1.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Branson/Kim has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 248.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
